About Dr. Torrejon

Dr. Ed Torrejon attended Eastern Illinois University on a wrestling scholarship where he was a 2-time All American and an NCAA champion. His wrestling accomplishments helped him to earn a scholarship to the University of Arizona where he wrestled in the first wrestling match held in McKale Center.

Dr. Ed earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from the University of Arizona. Dr. Torrejon was the principal of Homer Davis elementary school until he retired in 1992.

After his retirement, he became the director of the 6th Street Gym here in Tucson, which along with the nonprofit Foundation Youth Ministries focuses on at-risk youth and other members of the community who need the assistance of a support system.

Ed is always looking for ways to help the youth of Tucson. Ed currently resides in Tucson.

About Dr. Edwin Torrejon


Dr. Torrejon started martial arts at age of 10 was a 5-time state Judo Champion and a 3-time State Wrestling Champion. In 1977 he was an NCAA National Wrestling Champion. He believed his life lessons in martial arts would help at-risk kids ( gangs, drug addicts and school dropouts). In 1993 he started the street gym to introduce at-risk kids to the martial arts world. Please help him help kids learn the valuable life lessons of discipline, confidence, patience, charity and self-respect.
